LaboratoriA

Experimental, multidisciplinary & feminist flamenco

LaboratoriA is a multidisciplinary project that aims to be a channel of experimentation for four women who share flamenco as a common language and who, as well as engaging in dialogue with it, seek to transcend it. They are Aina Núñez, Cristina López, Isabelle Laudenbach and Ana Brenes.

The genesis of this project is the search for their femininity, which is shown in different forms, and in their interaction as women artists. Women artists who, in turn, relate to each other in a context of contemporary flamenco. This is where many questions and answers arise, which lead them to become aware of and position themselves in a feminism that aims to create spaces for reflection and transformation in our society. Or at least in their professional world around the art of flamenco.

"Y perdí mi centro", the company's second production, directed by Ana Pérez (La Tacones) and Iban Beltran, has been selected in 2021 as a show recommended by the ballet, dance and movement arts commission of the Spanish Network of Theatres, Auditoriums and Festivals of Public Ownership (La Red Española de Teatros, Auditorios y Festivales de Titularidad Pública). In 2020 it was selected by the Artes en Vivo circuit of the Diputación de Granada, in the category of avant-garde flamenco. It has been seen in markets and festivals of reference such as Fira Mediterrània, Festival de Música y Danza de Granada, Festival Sismògraf de Olot, Festival Ciutat Flamenco de Barcelona, Festival Periferias de Huesca and in multiple feminist programmes in favour of the visualisation of the work of female creators, the elimination of the gender gap on stage and the eradication of sexist violence.

“Y perdí mi centro” is supported by the Catalan Government’s Department of Culture.
